Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  Market News

Good morning! The cooler weather is here and the holidays are quickly approaching! I’m so excited to go out and trick or treat with my granddaughter this year as she can run and get into the spirit for the first time this year!
I’m beginning to get planning for Thanksgiving and Christams meals and treats. We will be coming our with those menus in the next week or so. I will have plenty of Cookie Decorating Kits this year as those have really become in high demand! I’m also adding more flavors of cookies and candies to the Cookie Boxes and platters.
This week you will notice quite a lot more offered in entrees and soups. With the holidays approaching and a few special events I will be catering, I am moving to a biweekly market. All of the soups will now be pressure canned so they will have a long shelf life and you can stock up. Our entrees and breads are also good for freezing if you want to stock up on those as well.
This week we have put the granola, grits and McKinnon’s Cocktails on sale – get them now at these great prices!!!
Feeling like baking yourself? Try our newly bottled Vanilla Bean Blend in Rum Extract! It is a wonderful flavor and bottled in a new stopper clear glass bottle.
Thank you so much for supporting the market!

Martin's Farmstand:  Updated available list/ Fall winter hours

Hello everyone.
The farmstand is open this time of the year and overflowing with bounty. We still have green beans. Last week we dug 80 bushels of nice sweet potatoes. We finished planting garlic on Saturday. (Now is time to plant garlic. If you need seed garlic, we have plenty for sale.)
This time of the year the stand is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am- 6 pm.
Starting in early November when Daylight Savings time ends open hours are noon- 5 pm Tues-Saturday. After thanksgiving till Christmas open noon- 5 pm Thursday, Fri, Saturday. After new Year till spring, we plan to be open Saturday afternoon from 12 till 5 pm. This schedule is the same as it was last year.
The ownership transition is still ongoing. The expectation is that my family and I (Daniel) will still be part of the team here at Martins Farmstand working about half time as needed for a somewhat indefinite time. I will be around as needed and will be mostly paying attention to the actual farming side of the operation. Of course, I could end up covering almost anything if the need arises, we desire to continue giving you all good service as our energy allows. Daniel

Growers News:

NashPhilly: We are finally getting into a true fall season, and we will be making more soups each week to present to the market on Wednesdays. If there is a soup you want and I haven’t brought it to the market in a while please let me know and we will prepare it for the following week.

Soups this week will be Tomato and Basil Bisque, Minestrone, and Broccoli and Cheddar Soup. Other soups we make prepare for the market include French Onion, New England Clam Chowder, Butternut Squash and Loaded Baked Potato.

Have you tried our spinach and artichoke dip or pimento cheese? These would make a great little snack to go along with some of the wonderful and fresh baked breads you bought this.

Rainbow Hill Farm: Apples this week: Ambrosia, Rome, Mutsu, Rhode Island Greening, Yellow Delicious, also California Wonder Bell Peppers and Campbell 33 Tomatoes.

Tailwynds Farm: We now have ground beef available. These are 1 pound packages and are 80/20 ratio black angus beef.

Calico Farms: Back this week, we have maple oat pecan scones – sold in 3 packs and loaded with maple & pecans throughout. They’re organic, dairy-free and my personal fall favorite flavor. If you love maple…these are for you!

For our gluten-free friends (or anyone who loves the combination of peanut butter & chocolate), try our 6-packs of peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies. They’re all organic, rich and so satisfying, all without any flour at all!

Finally, we’re featuring our organic chocolate syrup containing only clean ingredients like raw cacao powder & cane sugar, raw honey, filtered water, our homemade vanilla extract & sea salt. It’s amazing on ice cream, in chocolate milk or to make that first peppermint mocha of the season. It’s also vegan for anyone who needs it.

Backyard Tailz: Be sure to check our products under ‘Wild Bird Seed’. You’ll find Bird Feeder Accessories, Bird Feeders, Wild Bird Food, Wild Critter Food, Deer Snacks and Squirrel Snacks.

Triple LLL Farm: We have several ‘special’ to offer this week, please check us out.

Trinity Rose Micro Dairy: (Please return your jars, thank you!) We are enjoying making our milks and keifer for you but we are loosing money on jars and if we have to continue buying new jars we will have to charge jar deposit. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Quarter Spring Farm: we have full freezers and we need your help emptying them out. We have dropped prices on a few of our pasture-raised chicken cuts like the bag of bones (great for stock) and the chicken livers (tons of iron, great for you). We will have all of our lamb cuts, and some goat meat available starting next week. As usual, we have our splendid selection of skin-softening soaps, shampoos, and lotions available.

Sadie Brooke Farm: Their Family Farm is located in Readyville, TN where we raise Black Angus Cattle and grow garden fresh Vegetables and fruits. Also have fresh Bacon, Ham and sausage.
